Maths Mate Sheet 3 Term 4 Question 23

Predict: I predict this is going to involve the four operations.

Read: I think of a number, double it and then add 4. If the result is 20 what was the original number?

Clarify: —-

Big Question: What was the original number?

Mathematicians toolbox:

Your mathematician’s strategy toolbox includes:

  • Do I know a similar problem?
  • Guess, check and improve
  • Try a simpler problem
  • Write an equation
  • Make a list or table
  • Work backwards
  • Act it out
  • Draw a picture or graph
  • Make a model
  • Look for a pattern
  • Try all possibilities
  • Seek an exception
  • Break the problem into smaller parts

Solve: Well first I read the question. Then I started with 20, subtracted 4 and ended up with 16. Then I used my prior knowledge to know that half of 16 is 8. So as it said” Double 16″ I subtracted 8 and got my original number 8.
Answer: 8

Maths Mate sheet 2 term 4 question 23

Predict: I predict that this problem is going to involve the four operation’s and prior knowledge.

Read: I think of a number, add nine and then multiply by three. If the result was thirty what was my original  number?

Clarify: Nothing to clarify.

Mathematicians toolbox strategy:

  • Do I know a similar problem?
  • Guess, check and improve
  • Try a simpler problem
  • Write an equation
  • Make a list or table
  • Work backwards
  • Act it out
  • Draw a picture or graph
  • Make a model
  • Look for a pattern
  • Try all possibilities
  • Seek an exception
  • Break the problem into smaller parts

The Big question: If I start with a certain number add nine and multiply it by three what do number do I end up with?

Solve: First I read the question really thoroughly and made sure that I understood everything. Once I had done that I chose a number that I thought would be n easy start so I chose one. Then I added nine and I got ten. Once I had done that I multiplied  ten by three and got thirty.

Answer: One

5/6 Sport- Racket Ball

Hit, Smash, Bang, score! Yes 1 nil I’m winning. On Friday the 9/8/2013 some of the 5/6 went to racket ball. Racket ball is a sport were you are in a room made of concrete. The aim is to hit the ball against the concrete pavement wall. But there is a twist there is also a long red line at the bottom of the wall and if you hit the ball under that line well it doesn’t count. I think Racket Ball is a great game and very family friendly. I have even started practising against  the roller door at the back of my house. (:

100 Word Challange

My heart was beating incredibly fast as the sweat dripped down my face and slopped itself onto the ground. “Ahh”  It was coming straight for me “Man down” “Man down” I screamed as my brother dribbled all over me. “No” It was over and there was no point in living. “Your disgusting” ” have a shower I screamed. “Mum tell Toby to stop being such an annoying brother and stop spitting on me”

National Tree Day

On Friday the 26/7/13 it was School Tree Planting Day. School Tree Planting Day is were all the primary schools across Australia each plant some trees in there school to help involve  nature in our every day life. At our school every class planted a tree and looked after there own to take part in the activity.

On Monday the 22/7/13 every class dug a hole for there tree to be planted in. Everybody got to dig one scoop of the hole to feel that they were part of the activity. We decided to plant our tree furtherest away from all the others because we wanted to give it lots of room to gracefully grow from a little plant to a big tree.

I really enjoyed this activity because it meant that we could all plant our own trees without having to go by anyone’s rules. I also liked it because it got everyone out and about in the sunshine and fresh air. I think it would be really cool if high school students got this opportunity as well because it would make them feel like they get to be a part of something important to Australia.

Five Big Questions

In our class we made our own narrative. Below are a list of questions about our narratives.

#1: What makes this story good?

My story is good because it has lots of very interesting characters. I feel my characters are interesting because they are very creative and they have a very active imagination. Henry (The main character) is very sweet and kind as Dale  (The kidnapper) Is cruel and rude.

#2: What would make my story better?

My story would be better if I had more time to work on the ending because the start is great but the ending is just good. I feel that my story’s ending is not as good as the start because you can just predict what is going to  happen next.

#3: What is the most important thing I want you to know?

The most important thing I want you to know is that you should always have hope even if it all seems lost.

#4: Why did I write this? Why did I bother to tell the story? What is it about this particular story that I thought was so important?

I wrote this story because I don’t normally write stories with this genre and I  thought it would be interesting to have a change.

#5: What dose the audience need to know to understand and enjoy this book?

The most important thing you need to know about my story is that even though you here someone breaking into your house stay in bed because if you go then you are running the risk of getting caught. Also it is not good to break in to peoples houses because it is a illegal and you could go to prison.

Human Body Systems

The Nervous System:

The brain has over one hundred billion neurons that travel up and down your body every time it touches something. The neurons travel travel at a speed of 800,000 km per hour and send messages to your brain about what is happening at the bottom of your body. When the neurons get to the brain there are two different parts the right side and the left side. The right side controls music and the arts while the left side controls reading and writing. If you were to damage a side of the brain that would be called ‘ Brain damage’ and you would have to have surgery and you might become paraplegic.

The Circulatory System:

The Circulatory system is very important because it pumps the blood to get to the heart. The heart is made up of two parts the left side and the right side. The left side sends the blood around the body while the right sends it back to the heart.

The Lymphatic System:

The Lymphatic system was first discovered by Thomas Bathion. Thomas first discovered the Lymphatic system in 1652 and died in 1680. The Lymphatic system contains Lymph, that is created by white blood cells that travel through the body and fight diseases. To keep your Lymphatic system healthy it is best to do things like yoga, meditation and eat healthy food.

The Muscular System:

The body is made up with over 650 muscles. Skeletal muscles work in pairs called Triceps and Biceps. Triceps and Biceps loosen and tighten the muscles in your body so you can move. The biggest muscle is called the pectoialis muscle. The Pectoialis muscle sits on the chest for men and for woman it is placed under the breast.

Spelling city list 40

The thing I know noticed that all my words had in common was that they all had bossy e on the end. Some of my words were Flame, Use, Frame and Cake. I found that this list was quit easy because after a while I realised that I had already done the list.
