Winter Sports Is The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am from Moonee Ponds Central School. I fell that winter sports is the best thing since sliced bread because it is a really fun activity and it gets kids really active on a Friday afternoon. Every Friday for the first semester of the year there is something called “Winter sports” it’s where different schools from around the district verse each other in four different sports Soccer, Footy, Tee-ball and Netball [ I was In Soccer]. Whoever wins the most games in the four sports gets to go to divisions. I loved winter sports and I wish it could go on for the whole year.

Personal Learning Goals semester 1

Goals Reflection

This semester I feel I have improved I lots of things. One of my goals was to get better at division and multiplication. I fell I have achieved this because I know most of the strategies accomplish division and multiplication but I feel that I can learn a few more strategy’s to get  quicker at figuring the problems out.

Another one of my goals was to get better at grammar. I feel I have achieved this goal very well and I can make my writing sound very exciting.

Future Learning Goals

My goals I would like to achieve next semester are to work faster so I can get on to the next task as quick as possible I would also like to get better at spelling so I can get on to the harder lists in spelling city and become a better speller I would like to get better at reading because I love it but it takes me a long time to finish books.  Finally I would like to improve on my I.C.T skills to become better with using computers and be able to post more writing on my blog.

Different types of graphs

In our class we learnt about different types of graphs. We have learnt that bar graphs and pie graphs are two of the most simple graphs to read without being to easy. Bar graphs can show you the exact amount of something by the numbers but pie graphs can’t do that because they don’t have numbers they just have colours. So if one colour was twenty people and one colour was nineteen people you wouldn’t be able to figure out which one was bigger and which one was smaller. In conclusion I fell bar graphs are more convenient than pie graphs because they are more accurate.

PIE GRAPH

What Is The Best Way To Loose Weight?

Strengths: It is good to help you learn fractions. Not many words involved mainly colours. Shows how to divide categories.

Weaknesses: It can be complicated to read. Bad if you’re learning to read words. It doesn’t show any numbers to tell you the exact amount.

BAR GRAPH

What is the best sport for your body.

Strengths: Not complicated to understand. Bar graphs are very accurate.

Weaknesses: Bar graphs cant show the number of people that were questioned. Sometimes bar graphs only go up to a certain amount of numbers and if you have more than the number that is the highest on the graph you have to shrink the real answer.

Digestive System

Predict:

I predict that this text is going to be about how food travels through your body and how the digestive system works.

Clarify:

Bile, gallbladder, enzymes, amylase, sphincter and gastric.

Questions I Had As I Read:

What is the difference between the Anus and the Rectum?

Can the body work without the Small Intestine.

Key Words:

Small Intestine, Large Intestine, Epiglottis, Windpipe.

Summary:

It all starts when food goes into the mouth. Then goes through a flap called the Epiglottis. The epiglottis then sends the food to the windpipe. The windpipe then separates the good food from the waste. Then the waste food goes to the liver and the liver turns the waste into bile. Bile turns the waste fats, sugars, vitamins and proteins. Then they eventuality get sent to the Anus to leave the body as urine [wee] .

I have learnt that it can take up to 40 hours for the body to digest food because your food has to go through this process every time something goes into your mouth.

Problem pictures #11

Predict: I predict this problem will be about finding a pattern in the orange.

Read: http://www.problempictures.co.uk/examples/op11.htm

Big Question: How many oranges are in the picture.

Maths toolbox: Draw a diagram.

Solve: We started by finding out how many oranges were in each layer then we added them all together we ended up with 40 oranges. We knew that the bottom layer was 5 oranges times 4 oranges, so  the next layer would be 6 oranges times 5 oranges. Which is 30.

My Two Day Nightmare

click here to listen to this post ‘Henry its dinner time’ “coming mum” whispered Henry ‘just let me pack up my toys’. Henry was 8 and very lonely. His only friends were his toys that he loved dearly . At school his main friend was the toilet that he spent most of his school life getting dunked in. Henry lived with his parents Mavis and Bob who were quit the jokers and very clumsy.

As henry was walking out to eat dinner BAM!!!! Ambulances and Fire trucks started to arrive at the front of Henry’s ” Luckily it was just a mild fire” shouted one of the police officers over all the noise “You can go back inside now” ” Thank you” said Mavis and Bob ” ” Henry your going to bed now”

Two hours later everyone was in bed but Henry couldn’t get to sleep so he decided maybe he should start counting sheep. “1 sheep 2 sheep 3 sheep 4 sheep 5″ BANG!! Henry jumped up at the noise that surrounded him. Then the startled boy herd ruffling in the lounge room he ran to his parents” wake up” “wake up” but they wouldn’t budge so Henry ran back to his room but it was to late the robber had seen him ” Your coming with me” ” were are you taking me”? ” Please no stop please” his parents got up ” Henry were are you”?  But it was to late the robber had gone and taken henry with him.

“Please let me go” “please” please” screeched Henry as he was sobbing in the back car “what did I ever do to you”? asked Henry as puzzled as can be. “look mate my name’s Dale and its my duty to do stuff like this is that clear” asked Dale “OK” replayed Henry “now zip your lips or you never see those silly parents of yours again” “is that clear”? there was no reply ” I said is that clear and when I ask you something  answer me OK” “yes”

They arrived at a large concert building which was guarded by electric fences.”welcome to your new home” giggled Dale ” you will be staying down there” Dale pointed to a cellar at the bottom of  the building.” you will do what I say now” “do you understand me?” Henry nodded “now come with me” yelled Dale.

Henry and Dale knocked on the door and it cracked open. Dale led Henry down a long narrow hallway to the cellar. “get comfy” laughed Dale and he slammed the door shut. Not long after Dale had gone Henry rolled on the floor in depression and started to cry.

The next morning Henry woke up and soon realized that he was the only one up so he made a run for it. Henry silently open’d the door and creped up the stairs then he tip toed past dale’s and ran to the door “try’n to escape are ya” “n….nnn..” Henry hesitated “I was just looking at that tree” “what tree”? That’s when Henry sprinted to the fence “OH NO” he was caught at that moment Henry turned around to see that Dale was trailing closely behind. Luckily he saw a hole in the fence and crawled under just in the nick of time he was finely out of that prison cell.

As Henry was heading home he saw thins strange car in the distance that seemed to be heading straight for him. As it got closer he realized that his parents were coming to collect him. as he jumped in the car he asked “how did you possibly find me”? “The police have a tracker device” they replied ” but there is no time to talk now dale his trailing close behind. Henry’s parents were actually smarted than we thought because in the end they led dale straight to the police officers.

In the end Dale was charged with 6 years jail and Henry and his family were reunited and never separated again.

Predict: I predict this is going to be about how many jelly beans are in the container

Clarify: [?]

The big question: How many jelly beans are in the container altogether?

Solve: First I worked out how many jelly beans were in the container by multiplying  the top number by the 12×3 to get 36 then I multiplied 36×6 to get 216

Answer: 216

Maths Mate sheet 8 Term 2

Prediction: I predict this problem is going to include 3 of the four operations.

Question: Place a Plus, times or a – in each box to make the equation equal.

Solve: I knew that 6×8 was 48 so I put a x in the first box. then I put a – in the second box because I needed to get rid of two to make it equal 46.

Answer: 46.
